
ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. — A Charlottesville teen has been charged in connection with a June shooting in Albemarle County that left property damaged but no one injured, according to the Albemarle County Police Department.
Officers responded around 12:45 a.m. June 17, 2026 to reports of gunfire in the 2400 block of Peyton Drive.
Police said officers found numerous shell casings and property damage at the scene.
No injuries were reported.
Following an investigation, police charged Jaqaruis R. Michie, 18, with attempted malicious wounding, gang participation and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Michie is being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail on charges unrelated to the June incident, according to police.
He remained in custody at the time of the department’s announcement.
The investigation remains ongoing.
