
ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. — An 81-year-old Timberville woman died after a two-vehicle crash in Rockingham County,
According to Virginia State Police (VSP), the crash occurred at 12:07 p.m. July 30, 2026 near the intersection of Harpine Highway and Sharon Lane.
State police said a 2025 Toyota 4Runner was traveling south on Harpine Highway when a 2009 Toyota Camry pulled out of a parking lot in an attempt to travel north.
The driver of the 4Runner attempted to swerve but was unable to avoid the Camry, striking it at an angle and forcing it off the left side of the roadway.
Wilma Ryman, 81, a passenger in the Camry, suffered serious injuries and died July 31 at an area hospital.
The driver of the Camry, Cecil E. Ryman, 82, suffered minor injuries and was charged with failure to yield the right of way, according to state police.
The driver of the 4Runner also suffered minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
