SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. — Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a two-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer.
According to an emailed media release from VSP Sergeant Brent W. Coffey, the incident occurred January 9, 2025.
At 6:24 p.m., a 1997 Lexus ES300 was traveling south on Interstate 95 when it swerved to avoid slower-moving traffic. This caused the Lexus to lose control and collide with a southbound Kenworth tractor-trailer at the 127 mile marker.
The impact of the crash caused the tractor-trailer to run off the right side of the roadway and collide with several trees.
The driver of the Lexus, Ashton M. Faircloth of Stafford, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Mary Washington Hospital for treatment. He had been wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, Frank K. Tandoh, 43, of Dumfries, suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown to VCU Health for treatment. He was wearing a seatbelt.
Faircloth, 18, was charged with reckless driving; failure to maintain proper control.
The crash remains under investigation.
