ORANGE COUNTY, Va. — Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating an ATV crash that killed two men on Friday.
According to a media release from VSP Public Relations Coordinator Matthew Demlein, the incident occurred July 4, 2025.
At approximately 10:40 p.m., a 2024 Yamaha Wolverine Side-by-Side was travelling north on Tower Road when it failed to negotiate a turn, went off of the right side of the road, struck a tree, and rolled over near the intersection of Col. Drake Lane.
Both the driver, Jesse A. Powell, Jr., 33, of Orange, Va., and the passenger, Kelton T. Carter, 25, of Locust Grove, Va., died at the scene. Neither Powell nor Carter were wearing seatbelts.
The crash remains under investigation.
