WARREN COUNTY, Va. — A Linden woman is facing several charges after authorities say she shot her roommate Monday night.
On August 3, 2026, Warren County sheriff’s deputies responded at approximately 8:41 p.m. to a home in the 100 block of Wild Cherry Way for a report of an adult man who had suffered a gunshot wound.
Deputies found the victim inside a bedroom. He was treated by Warren County Fire and Rescue Services before being flown to Winchester Medical Center, where he was listed in serious but stable condition. Authorities have not released his identity.
Detectives with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division identified the victim’s roommate, 45-year-old Elizabeth R. Valade of Linden, as the alleged shooter.
Investigators determined probable cause to arrest Valade, according to the sheriff’s office. She was taken into custody without incident.
Valade was charged with aggravated malicious wounding, use or display of a firearm in the commission of a felony and reckless handling of a firearm.
She was taken to the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail, where she appeared before a magistrate and was ordered held without bond.
Valade is scheduled to appear in Warren County General District Court at 10 a.m. Aug. 25.
The sheriff’s office described the shooting as an isolated incident and said there is no ongoing threat to the community. The investigation remains active.
