WAYNESBORO, Va. — Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a 25-year-old man Sunday night.
According to a VSP media release, the incident occurred September 14, 2025.
Troopers were called to the intersection of Stuarts Draft Highway (Route 340) and Ladd Road around 9 p.m. after a report of a hit-and-run.
Investigators say a northbound Kia Sorrento struck an e-bike traveling in the same direction.
The bike rider, Dylan C. Knowles, 25, of Waynesboro, died at the scene.
The driver of the Kia, identified as Samuel W. Call, 36, of Waynesboro, fled but was later apprehended with assistance from the Waynesboro Police Department.
Call is charged with:
Driving while intoxicated
Felony hit-and-run
The crash remains under investigation.
