
SHENANDOAH COUNTY, Va. — A man wanted in connection with a road rage incident earlier this month is now in custody.
According to a media release from Virginia State Police (VSP) Public Relations Coordinator Matthew Demelin, the original incident occurred on June 18, 2025.
At approximately 4:45 p.m., troopers were notified about a road rage shooting that occurred on Interstate 81 southbound near the 264-mile marker.
Reportedly, a Ford F-150 with West Virginia plates fired one shot at a Jeep Wagoneer while both vehicles were on the interstate. There were no reported injuries.
On June 24, deputies with the Jefferson County (W.Va.) Sheriff’s Office arrested a Roger Tyler Chason of Summit Point, W.Va., after VSP obtained warrants for the road rage incident.
Chason, 35, faces charges of felony attempted malicious wounding, shooting from a vehicle, and shooting at an occupied vehicle. He also faces a misdemeanor brandishing charge. He is currently being held in West Virginia pending extradition to Virginia.
