MADISON, Va. — Virginia State Police (VSP) are is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian.

According to an emailed media release from VSP Sergeant Brent W. Coffey, the incident occurred January 10, 2025.

At 5:55 p.m., a 2014 Ford F-350 was traveling west on Orange Road (Route 230) when it struck a pedestrian who was walking southbound in the roadway near Oneals Road (Route 626).

The driver of the Ford could not avoid the collision but immediately stopped at the scene.

The pedestrian, Eldon L. Yoder, 73, of Pratts, died at the scene.

The Ford driver, a 41-year-old male from Culpeper, was not injured. He was wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
