Route 33 Crash Claims Life of Gordonsville Man

ORANGE COUNTY, Va. — Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed a Gordonsville man on Wednesday.

According to an emailed media release from VSP Sergeant Brent W. Coffey, the incident occurred January 29, 2025.

At 3:40 p.m., a 2013 Ford E-150 was traveling east on Route 33 when it crossed a double solid yellow centerline and collided head-on with a westbound 2020 Freightliner tractor-trailer near Magnolia Road (Route 645).

The impact caused the tractor-trailer to run off the roadway and collide with a fence.

The driver of the Ford, Arthur Stern, 82, died at the scene.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 51-year-old male from Orleans, Ontario, was not injured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

Orange County is a county located in the central Piedmont region of Virginia, just south of Culpeper.
