
FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a double-fatal crash that occurred Christmas evening.
According to the VSP, the incident occurred at approximately 10:39 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025, on Interstate 495 eastbound near the 49-mile marker.
Troopers were initially dispatched after witnesses reported a Toyota Sienna minivan in the eastbound express lanes with significant rear-end damage.
All six occupants of the minivan were transported to area hospitals.
Two passengers — a 75-year-old woman and a 15-year-old juvenile — later died from their injuries.
A short distance from the minivan, troopers located a damaged Dodge Ram pickup truck on the main travel lanes of Interstate 495.
Two occupants of the pickup truck were injured and transported to area hospitals.
The crash remains under investigation.
