LURAY, Va. — Following several delays and a mid-December status hearing, a trial date has yet to be set for a Page County man accused of murder and arson.
In late June, 2023, 69-year-old Elkton resident Gregory Lee Williams was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound in a Jollet Road home.
Initially just named as “a person of interest” in the case, Timothy Thomas Comer became a wanted man by July 5.
On July 10, the Page County Sheriff’s Office announced they were also investigating a suspicious July 9 Jollet Road house fire. Human remains were found in the residence, which was located in the same block where Williams’ body had been found a week earlier.A $10,000 cash reward for information leading to Comer’s capture was offered by the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force. Comer was eventually located and captured on the evening of July 13 after a multi-hour standoff at a vacant Jollett Road house.
His status hearing to discuss charges and to set a trial date was originally scheduled for October 30, 2024 but pushed back twice before finally occurring December 17. Online court records show that Comer is due to again appear in Page County Circuit Court on April 2, 2025 with the hearing type listed as “To Be Set.”
Comer is facing two counts of aggravated murder, one count of first-degree murder, one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
While awaiting trial, Comer is being held at Rappahannock Shenandoah Warren Regional Jail.
