MADISON COUNTY, Va. – Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a crash that left a man with life-threatening injuries.
According to an emailed media release from VSP Sergeant Brent W. Coffey, the incident occurred January 4, 2025.
At 7:44 p.m., a 2017 Hyundai Elantra was traveling northbound on S. Seminole Trail (Route 29) when a pedestrian ran westbound into the travel lane near Mountaineer Lane (Route 9731)..
The Hyundai was unable to avoid a collision and struck the pedestrian. The driver of the Hyundai immediately stopped and remained on the scene.
The pedestrian, a 21-year-old male from Culpeper suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to UVA Health University Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Hyundai, a 31-year-old female from Culpeper was not injured in the crash. She was wearing a seatbelt.
There were two passengers in the Hyundai. Both were wearing seatbelts. Neither was injured in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
