FRONT ROYAL, Va. — A Richmond man is behind bars after a day of eluding police and barricading himself inside a home to avoid arrest.
According to a media release from the Front Royal Police Department (FRPD), their first interaction with the subject occurred April 7, 2025.
That evening, officers responded to reports of a wanted individual who was sitting in a vehicle near a residence in the1600 block of North Royal Avenue.
When officers approached, the subject, William Christopher Mosley, Jr., 34, fled on foot and disappeared from view.
A coordinated search was conducted in the area of Depot Avenue, with assistance from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO), Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office, Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office, Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office, and the Virginia State Police.
Despite extensive efforts, Mosley was not located, and the search was suspended.
The next day, the FRPD received a tip that Mosley had returned to the same North Royal Avenue residence. Officers responded, and confirmed Mosley’s presence after speaking with others who knew him. It was believed that Mosley had barricaded himself, and was the sole individual, inside the home.
The WCSO Tactical Team responded to secure the perimeter, while negotiation teams from both the FRPD and the WCSO established contact with Mosley.
After approximately three hours of negotiations, Mosley surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody without incident. Assistance was also provided by the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office and Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office.
Following his arrest, Mosley was transported to RSW Regional Jail, where he was served with two outstanding misdemeanor warrants from the FRPD for violations of:
Code of Virginia 518.2-460(E): Obstruction of Justice
Code of Virginia 519.2-82.1: Providing False Identification to Law Enforcement
Additionally, Mosley was served with six capias warrants from the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office and one capias from the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. He is currently being held at RSW Regional Jail without bond.
