
STAFFORD, Va. — A local man was arrested after leading police on a pursuit that ended in a crash involving two other vehicles.
According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), a deputy observed a vehicle blocking traffic while attempting to make an illegal U-turn on Warrenton Road.
As the deputy approached, the driver completed the illegal turn and then accelerated away after emergency equipment was activated, initiating a pursuit.
Authorities said the vehicle weaved between other cars and reached speeds exceeding 80 mph on northbound Warrenton Road, where the posted speed limit is 45 mph.
The driver also ran a red light while making another illegal U-turn before crashing into two vehicles near the Interstate 95 northbound on-ramp.
The driver was identified as Joshua Burton of Stafford.
Burton, 30, was taken into custody and charged with eluding police, driving with a suspended license, making an illegal U-turn, operating an unregistered vehicle, and driving without insurance. He was held without bond.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
