FAUQUIER COUNTY, Va. — Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a two-vehicle crash that left a 30-year-old nurse dead.
The crash occurred at 8:53 p.m. on October 3, 2025.
According to VSP, a 2016 Ducati 959 Panigale motorcycle was traveling south on Route 29 when it struck a 2023 Toyota Camry that had entered the intersection from Old Alexandria Turnpike. Traffic on Old Alexandria Turnpike is controlled by a stop sign at that location.
The motorcyclist, Julian O. Ferrufino Coronel, 30, of Remington, died at the scene. Police said he was wearing a helmet.
The driver of the Camry, Alice M. Filipowicz, 82, of Haymarket, suffered serious injuries and was transported for treatment. She was wearing a seatbelt, according to police.
Filipowicz has been charged with failing to yield the right of way.
Friends of the Coronel family have organized a Go Fund Me campaign to help his family with funeral expenses.
According to fundraising organizer Bev Greene:
We are heartbroken to share the tragic loss of our beloved nurse, Julian Ferrufino Coronel, who passed away at just 30 years old.
Julian was more than a caregiver—he was a light in our community, a source of comfort and strength to his patients, and a devoted provider for his family.
His compassion, dedication, and gentle spirit touched countless lives, and his absence leaves a void that words cannot fill.
He is survived by his mother and his younger sister.
In honor of Julian’s memory and to support the family he held so dear, we are collecting donations to help ease their burden during this unimaginable time.
