LURAY, Va. — The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Watch for portions of Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland, including Page, Shenandoah, Augusta, and Rockingham counties. The watch will be in effect from late Thursday night (October 9, 2025) through Friday morning.
Forecasters warn that sub-freezing temperatures as low as 31 degrees are possible across the region. The cold snap could lead to frost and freeze conditions capable of killing crops, damaging sensitive vegetation, and potentially affecting unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Residents are urged to take precautions to protect plants and outdoor water lines before temperatures drop.
The advisory also includes Central and Eastern Allegany County in Maryland and the Eastern Mineral, Hampshire, and Hardy counties in West Virginia.
