
CULPEPER COUNTY, Va. — Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred Thursday afternoon, October 2, 2025, on Route 669 (Carrico Mills Road).
According to the VSP, a 2007 Mitsubishi FM61F truck was traveling westbound around 3:29 p.m. when it veered slightly off the right side of the roadway.
The vehicle struck a gravel driveway, reentered the roadway, crossed the centerline, and collided with a sign and a tree.
The driver, identified as Luis F. Barrera y Barrera, 44, of Stephens City, died at the scene. Police said he was not wearing a seatbelt.
A passenger, Fernando Suarez Ruiz, 58, sustained minor injuries in the crash and was wearing a seatbelt.

A “Go Fund Me” campaign for the Barrera family has been created.
According to the page:
[Luis] leaves behind his loving wife Natalie, their two beautiful children, Julian and Kimmy, and the entire Barrera family, who are heartbroken by this sudden loss. He will now rest in peace alongside his beloved mother and his twin daughters in heaven.
