STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — Deputies are searching for a 12-year-old girl after investigators determined she was taken out of the country by her mother earlier this week.
According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), the child’s legal guardian reported her missing after the girl’s mother failed to return her following a scheduled visitation.
Detectives with the SCSO Criminal Investigation Division were immediately notified and began an investigation.
The missing child has been identified as Aurora Hilton, 12. She has been entered into national databases as missing.
Through their efforts, investigators learned the child’s mother, Olivia Santos, 36, of Spotsylvania, had fled the country with the girl.
A warrant for abduction by a parent has been issued for Santos.
Detectives are continuing to work closely with federal law enforcement partners in hopes of locating Santos and safely recovering Aurora.
