SHENANDOAH COUNTY, Va. — Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred Friday,
The incident occurred September 19, 2025.
At approximately 2:00 p.m., a 1997 Peterbilt tractor-trailer was traveling northbound on Interstate 81 and attempted to take the 291 exit ramp when it ran off the left side of the ramp, struck a guardrail, and overturned.
The driver, identified as David C. Wright, 66, of Crossville, Alabama, died at the scene.
State Police confirmed that Wright was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
