
SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. — A local man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly brandishing a firearm, leading deputies on a 130-mph chase, and crashing before being taken into custody.
According to the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), the incident occurred September 16, 2025,
At approximately 9:07 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 10000 block of Patriot Highway for a reported brandishing of a firearm.
While canvassing the area, a deputy spotted the suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop.
The driver refused to stop, fleeing north on Patriot Highway before entering Interstate 95 southbound.
Deputies say the suspect reached speeds of more than 130 mph, weaving through traffic and endangering other motorists.
Moments later, the suspect lost control and crashed near the Ladysmith off-ramp.
Virginia State Police immediately took the driver into custody.
A firearm was recovered inside the vehicle, and the suspect was turned over to SCSO deputies.
The driver was identified as Dareion English, of Spotsylvania.
English, 28, was charged with:
• Felony Eluding
• Reckless Driving
• Possession of a Schedule I/II Narcotic
• Possession of a Schedule I/II Narcotic While in Possession of a Firearm
• Driving on a Suspended License
• Displaying Fictitious License Plates
• Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
He was transported to the Rappahannock Regional Jail, where he was held without bond.
