
SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. — A burglary arrest turned violent after deputies confronted a suspect inside a Red Rose Village home.
According to the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), deputies were dispatched for a reported break-in September 7, 2025, just after 2 a.m.
The homeowner told authorities they discovered a man they knew who was inside the residence without permission
Investigators say the suspect forced his way in by pushing through a window screen.
When deputies arrived, they located the suspect still inside.
As they attempted to take him into custody, he allegedly struck one deputy. A taser was deployed, but proved ineffective.
The suspect continued to resist violently, at one point wrapping his arms around a deputy’s waist and attempting to pull the officer’s firearm from its holster. The deputy maintained control of the gun.
A second deputy used pepper spray, which helped subdue the suspect. He continued to fight before finally being restrained.
Authorities identified the suspect as Nikoalis Conley, 27, who faces multiple charges, including:
• Two counts of assault on law enforcement
• Attempting to disarm a law enforcement officer of a firearm
• Obstruction of justice with force
• Larceny
• Trespassing
• Breaking and entering
Conley was booked into the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
Emergency crews treated the suspect at the scene. No deputies were seriously injured.
