STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — A Sterling man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly refused to let his ex-girlfriend out of a moving vehicle and assaulted her early Sunday morning.
On September 7, 2025, at approximately 3:15 a.m.,, a Stafford County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) deputy responded to a disturbance after a caller reported concerns for her friend’s safety.
The caller told dispatchers she was following her friend’s ex-boyfriend’s vehicle and provided live updates on its location.
The suspect’s car eventually stopped in the 1500 block of Warrenton Road, where deputies made contact with all parties involved.
Investigators determined that the suspect had arrived unannounced at the victim’s home earlier that morning and demanded she get into his vehicle to “talk privately.”
After she complied, he drove away.
As the caller followed, the victim tried to escape from the moving vehicle, but the suspect allegedly restrained and assaulted her.
Deputies say he also threatened to “take you with me” and go somewhere “no one could find you.”
The suspect was identified as Axcel Martinez Moran, 26, of Sterling.
He was arrested and charged with abduction and three counts of assault and battery.
Moran was booked at the Rappahannock Regional Jail, where he is being held without bond.
