SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. — Deputies arrested a local man Saturday afternoon after he allegedly drove through a yard, fled from authorities, and assaulted multiple deputies.
According to a media release from the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office (SSO), the incident occurred September 6, 2025.
At about 3:15 p.m., deputies were called to the 8300–8500 block of Courthouse Road for reports of a vehicle that had left the roadway and stopped in the grass.
When the first deputy arrived, they noticed the odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath along with other signs of impairment.
As the deputy instructed the man to exit the vehicle, he shifted into gear and fled through the yard.
Deputies pursued and quickly stopped the car a short distance away on Rawlings Court.
The driver, identified as John Morrow, 33, was reportedly uncooperative. During the arrest, authorities say Morrow kicked several deputies and attempted to bite one before being subdued and taken into custody.
Morrow faces multiple charges, including Driving Under the Influence (second offense), Refusal of Breath Test, Assault on Law Enforcement, and two counts of Obstruction of Justice.
He was booked into the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
