STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — A reckless driving complaint led to a high-speed pursuit that ended with the arrests of two different drivers of the same vehicle.
According to a media release from the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), the incident occurred September 2, 2025.
At approximately 11:13 a.m., a SCSO deputy responded to reports of occupants in an SUV throwing bottles out of the vehicle. It was further reported that the vehicle had temporary tags and was last seen near Richmond Highway and Centreport Parkway.
The deputy located the SUV as it merged onto northbound Interstate 95 and conducted a traffic stop after discovering the tag was registered to a trailer.
When the deputy attempted to make contact, the female driver and male passenger refused to roll down their windows. The driver then sped away, prompting a pursuit.
Deputies said the SUV pulled onto the shoulder briefly but continued to ignore commands and accelerated back into traffic.
The chase escalated when the vehicle exited onto Garrisonville Road and began traveling east in the westbound lanes before re-entering I-95.
With additional deputies in pursuit, authorities attempted a rolling roadblock.
When the suspects tried to evade them, deputies made intentional contact, causing the SUV to lose control and end the pursuit.
The male, who had switched into the driver’s seat, was identified as Dillon Turner, 27, of Independence.
The original driver, now passenger, was identified as Courtney Knight, 33, of Washington, D.C.
Both were taken into custody.
Deputies discovered Turner was wanted in Fairfax County, while suspected controlled substances were found inside Knight’s bag.
Turner and Knight were both charged with felony eluding, reckless driving, driving without a license, and possession of fictitious registration.
Turner was also served on his outstanding warrant, and Knight faces an additional charge of possession of controlled substances.
Both are being held without bond at Rappahannock Regional Jail.
