
WARREN COUNTY, Va. — A traffic stop in early August led to the arrest of a Front Royal man accused of plotting to kill two people.
According to a September 5, 2025 media statement from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO), the traffic stop was conducted on August 9.
During questioning, the driver, identified as Michael Dewayne Massey II, disclosed plans to kill two Warren County residents.
Massey, 33, was taken into custody.
According to the media statement, deputies found evidence inside Massey’s vehicle that supported his claims.
The intended victims were located unharmed and provided with safety measures.
Deputies proceeded to coordinate with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, which secured warrants for two counts of attempted murder.
Massey was arrested without incident on September 4, 2025, and booked into Rappahannock Shenandoah Warren (RSW) Regional Jail, where he remains held without bond.
Authorities emphasized the incident was isolated and involved only individuals known to Massey.
The investigation is ongoing.
