
SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. — A local man faces multiple charges after a cyber tip led to the discovery of child exploitation material in his possession.
According to the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), an agent from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted investigators to an online account suspected of uploading and sharing images depicting child sexual abuse.
Acting on information provided in the tip, the ICAC Team and the Child Victims Unit executed a search warrant at a home in the 7000 block of Fairmont Lane.
Multiple digital devices were seized during the search.
The suspect, identified as Tyler Rivera, 21, was taken into custody and charged with 20 counts of violating Virginia Code 18.2-374.1:1 — possession, reproduction, distribution, solicitation, and facilitation of child pornography.
Authorities said the investigation remains active and additional charges, including child sexual abuse and aggravated sexual battery, are expected.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is a private, nonprofit organization that works to locate missing children and combat child exploitation nationwide.
The SCSO is a member of the NOVA-DC Internet Crimes Against Children Virginia State Police Taskforce (NOVA-DC ICAC). ICAC which is a national network of law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies that helps state and local agencies respond to online child exploitation of other crimes.
