FREDERICK COUNTY, Va. — Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Saturday morning,
According to a VSP media release, the incident occurred August 30, 2025.
At approximately 8:08 a.m., a 2003 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on Interstate 81.
When the driver attempted to pass another vehicle, he lost control of yhe Camry, veered off the left side of the highway, crossed into the southbound lanes, rolled over, and struck a highway sign near the 311 mile marker.
The driver, identified as Ronald E. Paul Jr., 64, of Middletown, was taken to a nearby hospital where he later succumed to his injuries. Police said he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
