STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) is asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect, following a violent incident in the England Run subdivision earlier this week.
According to authorities, the incident happened on September 2, 2025.
At approximately 9:33 a.m., deputies responded to reports of a disturbance involving a weapon.
While one deputy interviewed the victim, other deputies canvassed the area. As a precaution, nearby Gayle Middle School was placed in a secure posture.
Investigators learned the victim had been in a verbal altercation with a man known as “Junior,” later identified as Zachary Saunders, of Stafford.
During the confrontation, Saunders, 39, allegedly assaulted the victim, stole her firearm, and brandished it at both the victim and a juvenile inside the residence.
The victim was able to safely flee the home with the child.
Before deputies arrived, Saunders fled the scene on foot with the stolen firearm.
Authorities later confirmed he is a convicted felon with multiple outstanding warrants in neighboring jurisdictions.
For this incident, Saunders is wanted on charges of assault and battery, simple assault, two counts of brandishing a firearm, reckless handling of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and grand larceny.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office at (540) 658-4450, or local law enforcement.
