SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. — The county has rolled out an automated speed enforcement program in school zones, with thousands of warning notices already issued to drivers.
The warning period ends September 11, 2025.
Starting that day, motorists caught speeding in school zones will receive official citations.
Fines are set at $50 for a first violation and $100 for repeat offenses.
County officials emphasized that the program is fully funded through violation fines and does not draw from taxpayer dollars.
Authorities are urging drivers to slow down and obey posted speed limits to keep students safe.
