STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — A Richmond man is facing multiple charges after biting a deputy during a late-night incident on Interstate 95.
On August 16, 2025, at approximately 11:15 p.m., deputies responded to reports of a pedestrian walking in the roadway near mile marker 136 on northbound I-95.
Responding deputies located the man, later identified as Adrian Chiodo, 30, who appeared to be under the influence.
Authorities said the deputy attempted to guide Chiodo to the shoulder to prevent him from being struck by traffic.
Instead, Chiodo ran into oncoming lanes, prompting a brief foot chase.
A deputy was able to quickly detain him, but during the struggle Chiodo bit the deputy’s foot. The deputy was not injured.
Chiodo later admitted to using a mixture of controlled substances and told investigators he fled because he believed the deputy was holding “a rubber deer mask.”
Chodo was charged with assault and battery on law enforcement, public intoxication, fleeing law enforcement, obstruction of justice, and unauthorized use of a highway.
Chiodo was taken to the Rappahannock Regional Jail and held on a $5,000 secured bond.
