AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. — Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a fatal Tuesday morning crash.
According to a media statement from VSP, the incident occurred July 22, 2025.
At approximately 6:19 a.m., a 2026 Freightliner TMA crash truck traveling eastbound on Interstate 64 overcorrected, veered off the right side of the interstate, broke through a guardrail, went down an embankment, struck a tree, and overturned near the 89-mile marker.
Both occupants of the truck died at the scene.
The driver was identified as Georgeanna L. Hardesty, 51, of Iron Gate, and the passenger as Sabrina L. Harris, 50, of Covington.
State police confirmed that both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
